About Author

The Immortals of Melhua is the very first book written by Amish Tripathi and also this is the first book of Shiva Trilogy. The story revolves in the lands of Meluha. Peoples in meluha believes that shiva which also know as neelkanth is their saviour. Meluha was the greatest empire which was created by lord Ram centuries ago. The people who were living in Meluha were called as Suryavanshi.

Plot

Suryavanshi starts facing many crisis as their river Saraswati slowly drying to extinction. They also facing attacks from Chandravanshis. Chandravanshis also joins the forces of Nagas. Now Naga forces had soldiers who were cursed with physical deformities. Daksha was the present king of Meluha at that time. He sends his emissaries in north india to invite local tribes to Meluha. Shiva was the chief of Guna tribe, who accepts the invitation and moves to Meluha with his peoples.
When they reached to the Meluha, Ayurvati the chief of Medicine received them. Guna tribe gets to know about Meluha and they impressed by knowing the way of life in Meluha. The Guna tribe members then suffered with a flue and Shiva also suffered with that flue. And this is the first time when his Throat turn Blue. Meluhans then annouced that the shiva is the Neelkanth who's also their saviour. Shiva was then taken to the Devgiri. Devgiri was the capital of meluha. Shiva meets Daksha first time in Devgiri. In devgiri Shiva also meets princes Sati for first time who was the daughter of Daksha. Devi Sati was Vikarma. Vikarma were the persons who were untouchables due to their sins committed during their previous births. Shiva wins her heart at the end and then they got married.
During all these events Shiva comes to know about war between Survanshi and chandravanshi's. Bruhaspati who was chief inventor Meluha invites Shiva to mount Mandar were he got to know about somras. The reason behind turning his throat blue was also the Somras. Somras has anti-aging properties which was the reason behind long life of Melhuans. One day at morning Melhuans hears a blast from mount Mandar. This blast kills scientist who were living there. Shiva founds out that the involvement of nagas which also confirms their involvement with Chandravanshis.
He then declares the war with Chandravanshis at Swadweeps. Melhuans win this battle with Chandravanshis. The Chandravanshis king held captured were he sees the Neelkanth first time. The princess of chandravanshi explains they too had similar legent that Neelkanth will help them to save their land by helping them fighting against.

What we think about The Immortals of Melhua

The Immortals of Melhua is the best book everyone should read. The events in this book take place nicely and are able to keep reader in chaos. Which makes this book intresting. You must read this one.
This is not a fluent story nor gripping, its like a movie script going on. It goes on without any tricks and turning points. Shiva falls in love with sati, trails behind her and does everything to impress sati.
Other charecters with are not given that much of attention. They are not that much developed.
The concepts in Immortals of Melhua like Somras and taking babies away from their mothers just after they born, these things never happened in in india ever.
