Summary

The Bridge of Clay is one of my favourite book. Markus Zusak who is a great Australian writter came up with Bridge of Clay in 9 Oct 2018. This book is also a international bestsellers. His other two books The book Thief and I Am The Messenger are also one of the international bestsellers. Markus Zusak took two decades to complete this book. The book has almost 600 pages in it.

The Bridge of Clay is the story of 5 brothers raising themselves. There house is always filled with anger, fights, Joy and happiness. These kids had already lost their Mother, and their father abandoned them.

Once their father came to them seeking for help to build a bridge by old fashioned style (by hands). Out of these brothers Clay agrees to help him. He dropped down his college for this task. This is all about the story. 

Overview

Bridge of Clay is the story of finest brother amog the 5 brothers. Mathews is the eldest brother, who is the main gurdian and breadearner among 5 brothers. Then comes Rory who is the most fighter or trouble maker for some instance. Then comes Henry who works whole day and spends his evening in the drinks or in the films of 1980s. The last one is Clay, who is the main character of the story. 

Markus Zusak wrote the whole story of "Bridge of Clay" is by Mathews point of view. Mathews is typing this story on an old typewriter. He described his childhood and all he knows about his parents and all those things. Mathews used a poetic way to describe these things. He came to know secrets about his family. 

Suddenly their father comes to them asking for help. Clay decides to help their father, which obviously hearts his brothers. Bridge construction is just a way to connect all family members also this construction put light on the truth of Penelope (their mother), cancer and her death. 

During the construction of bridge their whole family gets together. Their family comoletes during this construction. The construction of the bridge is just a medium to complete their family. The plot where the death of Penelope described is the most moving and successful realised. 

Some of the events from the book are complex but some events shows guts, precise control of emotions etc. Having all these things in this book, still Mathews main concentration is on Clay. Clay is a quiet and sensitive guy. He also developed cruel self discipline within him. 

Weakness of Bridge of Clay

As I don't think there are any weaknesses in this book. But still I feel few things about this book.

• Zusak has tendency to over play theatrical illuminations.

Strengths of Bridge of Clay

• Death is the best character in the book. Zusak took 2 decades to build this charecter.

• Markus zusak described teenage world of these 5 boys with a great way.

• Bridge of clay is the symbol of beauty of scars, family love and bond between them.

Overall the book is good. I liked the way the plot is written. Markus Zusak explained all 5 brothers very well. Bonding between these brothers is what people may like.
