Summary

The Burning Maze is the 3rd book of Trials of Apollo Series of books. Rick Riordan published this book in 1st May 2018. This one is the most awaited book of the series.
The first two books of the series are:
We have seen previously that, God Zeus punished god Apollo and sends him to the mortal world, were he lost his power and knowledge he had as a god. He met new peoples in mortal world and make friends. Now in order to regain his position and power he has to go through few trials.
We have seen that as the part of his trials he rescued Oracles from the darkness and restored them back.
Burning Maze is the 3rd installment of Trials of Apollo book series by Rick Riordan. Apollo must now start journey to the Labyrinth, that has a burning maze at its centre and it contains oracle, by rescuing that oracle Apollo may return to his rightful place.
But this task is not going to be easy for Lester(Apollo). Labyrinth who is a Third Roman Emperor, which is part of a group of three Roman rulers bent on death and destruction, who's a biggest threat in Apollo's path. Apollo (Lester) has the key to bring peace in mortal and immortal world.

Overview

I waited for this book for long time and finally when I got my hands on it I disappointed a bit. I was expecting more from Rick Riordan in The Burning Maze.
The Burning Maze is a off pace plot. Usually Rick Riordan does great work with pace but The Burning Maze I felt something off. As like the other books of Rick Riordan you will get those great action sequences.
Rick Riordan starts the book Burning Maze with a perfect Intense scene with "Meg,Grower, and Apollo escaping through Labyrinth from a bunch of strikes". The Burning Maze is full of such action sequences.
As like previous books in The Burning Maze also I liked Apollo's narration. Apollo's character keep growing up in burning maze too. From A immortal god to a normal human, his journey is still continues.
Rick Riordan has given a funny touch to his character (actually it feels funny to readers) like he still don't have an idea about "How to Fight without his Powers".
The Piper has returned in the burning maze. Rick Riordan hasn't experimented too much with her character and I liked that. Piper becomes an important character in Apollo's journey. I think Apollo may not be survived without her.
Rick Riordan has also covered "Meg's" backstory in this book. I always had a soft spot about Meg's character throught this series. I liked that, Rick Riordan has ability to make side characters memorable. Unlike other stories I generally don't remember side characters.
I liked the way that all prophesies from different oracles are delivered in different forms.
I enjoyed this book alot. I waited to read this book for a long time, I am satisfied with what Rick Riordan came up with.

Weakness of The Burning Maze

  • I think Rick Riordan overdose few things like pop culture refrences.
  • I think this book is suffering from something we called "Middle Book Syndrome"
  • This is a off space book

Strengths Of The Burning Maze

  • As like other books of Rick Riordan, I liked the narration of Apollo
  • Rock Riordan also covered the back story of Meg which will help you to understand her character in deep
  • Rick Riordan included few famous characters in The Burning Maze, which made this book more interesting.

Quotes from The Burning Maze

  • Pain is an interesting thing. You think you have reached your limit and you can’t possibly feel more tortured. Then you discover there is still another level of agony. And another level after that
  • Remember what it's like to be human,
  • Power makes good people uneasy rather than joyful or boastful. That’s why good people so rarely rise to power
  • The people who deserved to die took forever to do so. Those who deserved to live always went too soon
  • I would be Apollo. I would remember

Final Verdict

I liked the way Rick Riordan continued this series of books. May be Trials of Apollo is the first series of book I want to complete as early as possible, I can't wait to see what is going to happen next and thats the beauty of Rick Riordan's writtings.
In The Burning Maze, Apollo's character more grown. He is completing one by one challenges to regain his rightful place. He successfully rescues those Oracles and take one more step closer to his rightful place.
I can't wait to read 4th book of Trails of Apollo series. I will come up with review of that book also, once I finished it.
