If you have read previous three books of the series then you know that, The God Zeus punished God Apollo and sends him to the mortal world. God Apollo is a mortal teenager now. Apollo has to go through few trials in order to regain his rightful place on the mount Olympus.
Apollo made few friends in the mortal world and they helped them in his quest. Apollo previously rescued few oracles from darkness and restored them back. He fought against Labyrinth and rescued those oracles back.
You can read about these books here,
Now in The Tyrant's Tomb Apollo must travel to camp Jupiter, where he has to learn what is to be a hero and die trying.

Overview

The Tyrant's Tomb is the 4th book of The Trials Of Apollo Series of books. Rick Riordan has almost finished with Apollo's narrative and his character development is also finished with this book.
Readers can feel Apollo's transition from 1st book i.e. I am the most powerful god to the most humble Human. Now he is a fully grown person.
In Rick Riordan's books there is always a fight of Good against Bad or God against Evil, and The Tyrant's Tomb is no exception for this.
He successfully made a fusion of the Historical and Mythological figures from the past hundred centuries and crafted it in a action packed, well written series of books or a long story we can say.
Rick Riordan has successfully balanced multiple story arcs throughout his various stories. He always comes up with new characters and made them as to lead the story.
The story of the trials of Apollo series focuses on the self centred, arrogant god and what happens when he lost his position and power and I think this makes Trials of Apollo series of books more intresting.
How Apollo deals with the things and situation caused by his doings and mistakes is amazing. Rick Riordan imagined and pictured everything with an interesting way and this is what I liked more about his writting.
The concept Rick Riordan comes up with that is "Even Gods Will Pay For Their Mistakes". Apollo realised this in the first three books if trials of Apollo series.
In The Tyrant's Tomb Apollo get to realised that how Thoughtless and Cruel he has been in past and now he tries to fix everything he did in past.
Jason Grace showed true selflessness to Apollo with his death. Someone is sacrificing their lives to save this Immortal* god makes Apollo emotional. He finds true meaning of Friends and the importance of people's arround him in his life.
Now apart from making Apollo a great human being or a great god, war against Roman Emperor Nero, Caligula and Commodus continues. Apollo and Meg warns about attack of Caligula and Commodus.
Here in The Tyrant's Tomb, Rick Riordan brought back characters of Frank Zang and Hazel Levesque from the Heros of Olympus series of books.
If you have already read novels from Rick Riordan, you probably know that Rick Riordan never hesitate to kill good or positive characters of the story.
Tyrant's Tomb is all about how these Demigod will face their biggest fear and how will they overcome from it.
Rick Riordan introduced a new character in Tyrant's Tomb, Lavinia Asimov who is a Roman Demigod.
Rick Riordan made Lavinia Asimov's character Courageous and Heroic and that what readers should looking for. Rick Riordan has always something to surprise their readers.
As like previous installments of the Trials of Apollo series, In The Tyrant's Tomb Rick Riordan filled the plot with some great action packed scenes.
The Tyrant's Tomb is the masterpiece by the Rick Riordan. The plot not only has action scenes but the development of characters will leave readers surprised. No can predict what is going to happen next, which character will leave which one will die.
In this book of 420 pages, Rick Riordan explained true meaning of Friendship, Love, Sacrifice and Loss. I finished this book in single sitting, and I believe that you will also do so, because once you started reading this book you won't stop before finishing it.

Weak Points

  • This not a weakness but still I felt like, Killing Characters in each story isn't necessary thing, liks Rick Riordan has done in this book also.
  • I felt this book as very slow paced. (Thats totally my view)

Strengths

  • Rick Riordan has build Apollo's character in a great ways.
  • In The Tyrant's Tomb also Rick Riordan combined action packed scenes and emotional scenes together which makes a perfect blend for a story.
  • The Transition of Apollo's character has done perfectly by Rick Riordan.

Quotes From The Tyrant's Tomb

  • How do you tell a dream from a nightmare? If it involves a book burning , it's probably a nightmare
  • Have you completely made up for all the bad things you've done? No. But you keep adding to the good things column. That's all any of us can do
  • If I'm going to burn, I might as well burn bright. This is for Jason
  • Goodbye, Apollo,' said the Sibyl's voice, clearer now. 'I forgive you. Not because you deserve it. Not for your sake at all. But because I will not go into oblivion carrying hate when I can carry love.
  • Each person's grief has its own life span; it needs to follow its own path

Final Verdict

The Tyrant's Tomb is the masterpiece by Rick Riordan. In this book Rick finally finished building Apollo's character. The transition of God Apollo is also done by a perfect way. Standing against the Roman emperor, gets him one step closer to regain his rightful place and power.
After this Apollo just has to give a final trial in order to regain his powers and place as a god, and that will be the last book of Trials of Apollo series.
