Rick Riordan on Trials of Apollo: Dark Prophecy

Summary

The Dark Prophecy is the second book of Trials of Apollo book series. Rick Riordan came up with this in 2 May 2017. Trials of Apollo book series made Rick Riordan as New York Times bestselling author.
As if you have read first book of the series, The Hidden Oracle we saw that God Zeus sends God Apollo into the Mortal world as a teenage boy to punish him for his mistakes. Now Apollo has to go through trials to prove himself, and all of these things he has face without his power and knowledge that he had as a god.
Trials of Apollo The Burning Maze is the 3rd book of the series. And the 4th book is The Trials of Apollo The Tyrant's Tomb. The Trials Of Apollo: The Tower of Nero is last one.
The Prophecy continuous with the story, that were left in the Hidden Oracle. Now after all these events happened in previous book, Now Apollo has to Reclaim the rightful place on the mount Olympus, and to do so he must restore several oracles that has gone dark.
Apollo must find the source thats affecting the oracle and fight with it in order to save those Oracles.

Overview

Dark Prophecy is one of the book which I was very eager to read. Rick Riordan published this book just after a year the Hidden Oracle was published.
The Hidden Oracle has arround 528 pages in it. I read this book in just one sitting. I don't know when did last time I read such a book in just one sitting, and that is the beauty of Rick Riordan's writtings. The Dark Prophecy also be successful in sticking people to the one single place.
The Dark Prophecy also has those nail biting events which will amaze and surprise you at the same time.
As you make progress with this series of books, you can easily connect with the character of Apollo and can feel ups and downs in his journey.
Now comming back to The Dark Prophecy, Rick Riordan did a great job with this book also. It is filled with action pack scenes, that cheese chasing and many more. You won't feel bored with this book.
In Dark Prophecy, Rick Riordan introduced few new characters and new (really cool) locations. Rick Riordan yet not finished with building Apollo's character. That Arrogant, and foolish Apollo has changed now and has grown alot.
Rick Riordan also introduced a different perspective of Apollo's character in Dark Prophecy. I mean it feels very funny how he sees the mortal world(as he was a god once) and how clumsy he is, when he his Lester.
Apollo's character sometimes reminds me the Character of Lucifer. I know, I am not comparing both but still I felt like that. I don't know the exact reason behind this feeling but it feels like him.
I almost forgot about the 'Meg's character. Yep she is still a part of story. Rick Riordan drawn her character like she is cool but as well as weird too. No one can predict what she will do and what she is thinking. Meg is always ready to surprise you.
The Dark Prophecy has also characters from other books of Rick Riordan like from Percy Jackson. I liked the way Rick included characters from other books and stories in Trials of Apollo series. I think the fusion works well with this book also.
You can feel the amazing writting skills of Rick Riordan in this book also. He knows his job well and is always successful in it.

Weakness from The Dark Prophecy

Ok, this not a weakness of the book but still I felt like the end of the book could be better than this.(May be I am expecting too much from the book, because previous book was really awesome).

Strengths of The Dark Prophecy

  • Its a perfect action pack, and thriller story
  • The book is fast-paced, suspenseful and mysterious one.
  •  The way Rick Riordan transits the arrogant Apollo into mature one is what I liked the most.

Some Quotes From The Dark Prophecy

  • We only fail when we stop trying
  • It's not how long you live that matters. It's what you live for
  • I remember something Marcus Aurelius used to tell his son, a quote that later became famous in his Meditations book: Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what's left and live it properly. What doesn't transmit light creates its own darkness
  • Everything living deserves a chance to grow
  • Nets can be traps. But they can also be safety nets. You just have to know when to jump in

Short Story

We saw how god Zeus sends God Apollo in mortal world in 1st book of Trials of Apollo series. In 2nd book The Dark Prophecy, Rick Riordan continued the story of God Apollo.
This time Apollo seems to be grown up. He wants his place back on the mount Olympus with his all powers and knowledge. In order to do so he must save several oracles that has gone dark.
How Apollo is going to do this? Will Meg will continue to stay with him in this journey? Does she knows everything about apollo? These are the questions which left in the first book that is The Hidden Oracle. You will find many answers in The Dark Prophecy.
